A Brunswick County man has been charged with taking indecent liberties with two child victims along with other felony sex offenses that is alleged to have occurred over nine years.

Waylon Ronald Simmons, 64, of Liberty Street in Ash, has been charged with eight counts of indecent liberties with a child, four counts of statutory rape, four counts of first-degree sex offense of a child and one count of second-degree sex offense, according to arrest warrants.

Both victims are female, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Emily Flax said.

The arrest warrants show the offense dates span a period of more than nine years, beginning in late November 2006 and ending in December 2015. The victims were reportedly under the age of 13 when the alleged sexual abuse started and continued into their teenage years.

Simmons was booked at the Brunswick County Jail on Tuesday night and remained in custody Wednesday under a $500,000 secured bond.
