Former UNCW pitcher Chris Hatcher will be back in Los Angeles for the upcoming Major League Baseball season as the Dodgers announced last week that they have avoided arbitration with the right-handed reliever. According to Thomas Harding of MLB.com, the deal was reported to be worth $1.065 million.
Hatcher, who turned 31 on Tuesday, went 3-5 with a 3.69 ERA and four saves in 49 relief appearances in his first season with the Dodgers after pitching for the Marlins from 2011-14. He missed two months with an oblique injury, but after returning on Aug. 15, he posted a 1.31 ERA, holding opponents to a .181 batting average in his final 22 regular-season appearances.
Pitchers and catchers report to the Dodgers spring training facility at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona on Feb. 19.
