Margaret ‘Peggy’ Biggs Piner, 98, oldest living charter member of Myrtle Grove Baptist

Margaret “Peggy” Biggs Piner  98, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016.

Peggy was born on May 25, 1917 in Brunswick County, the daughter of the late Walter Biggs, Sr. and Margaret Rowell Biggs. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Frank Piner, Sr.; her sister, Flora Biggs Bass; and her brother, Walter C. Biggs, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Frank Rogers Piner, Jr. of Wilmington; sister-in-law Katherine Godwin and husband Bill of Wilmington; and sister-in-law Betty Biggs and brother-in-law Alton Bass.

Margaret was the oldest living charter member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.

Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, NC.  The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21 at Andrews Valley Chapel. Interment will follow in Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery, 4124 Mount Misery Road NE, Leland, NC.
