Rhonda Lee Mercer, 57, avid dog lover who was ‘happiest at the beach’

Rhonda Lee Mercer, 57, of Wilmington, passed away on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.

Rhonda was born on March 10, 1958 in Clinton to Geraldine Mercer and the late Dallas Mercer.

Rhonda is survived by her mom; siblings, Sharon Mercer, Gwen Waggett (Warren) and Dallas Mercer, Jr; nephews, Michael Griffin, Jr. (Suzanne), Jonathan Waggett, Aaron Mercer; niece, Brinley Mercer; dear friend, Toni Skvaril as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

She graduated from New Hanover High School in 1976. Rhonda worked many years locally in the chemical industry. Rhonda was happiest at the beach, surfing, boating and playing music, and was an avid dog lover.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Rhonda’s name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
