Peter Anthony Bonanno, 85, a strong, dedicated husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marie, of 61years; three children, Denise Sevier, Donna Price and James Candiano; sons-in-law, Henry Price and Thomas Sevier; and two granddaughters, Casey Marie Sevier and Shannon Marie Price. Peter also leaves his sister, Angela Flachs, and brother-in-law, Edwin; and brother, Dominick Bonanno, and sister-in-law, Esterine.

A Korean War veteran, Peter proudly served his country in the United States Army. Originally from Long Island, New York, Peter was an active member of the New York Racing Association and managed several racetracks in New York.

Peter retired to Wilmington in 1996, living in The Cape, and has been a long time member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Peter was a dedicated family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Daisy. He will be missed by many neighbors, friends and family.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 3 and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16 at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington. A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 18 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 6650 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC 28412, with the Rev. John McGee officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the ASPCA.
