Alice Roshon made her way to her resting place on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Carlin; her granddaughter, Allison Young; her grandson, Eric Carlin; and two younger sisters, Carol and Beverly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Roshon; daughters Melinda Sue Roshon and Gwynne Roshon-Larsen; brothers Arthur, George, Freddy, Joe and Alan; and sisters Marge and Vera.

Alice was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from Rhodes High School with the Class of 1944. She married her soulmate, Richard Roshon (“Dick”), and they enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage before he passed in 2003. She and Dick moved from Medina, Ohio to be near the ocean and enjoyed daily walks on the beach together. They found community in their neighborhood and at Ocean View Methodist Church.

Alice was a master of her home, always maintaining a beautiful garden and greeting neighbors at the door with a smile and sweets to offer. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren, and was able to attend all three of her granddaughter Allison’s graduation ceremonies. Alice was also a skilled seamstress, making clothes for all of her children, and in the later part of her life, crocheting blankets of love for children in distress.

Alice will be greatly missed by those who knew her wise and courageous spirit.

A memorial service will be held for her at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her honor to Ocean View United Methodist Church, 8400 E. Oak Island Drive, Oak Island, NC 28465.

Please leave online condolences for the family at Peacock-Newnam and White.
