Marilyn Giedemann Rogers, “Mama Mia,” age 57, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Feb. 18, 1958 in Woodbury, New Jersey.
Marilyn worked for many years as a hairdresser but most recently at New Hanover Regional Medical Center as a caregiver in the infant children’s ward.
Marilyn is survived by her mother, Loretta Marie Dobrowolsky of Las Vegas, Nevada; son Theodore “Teddy” Giedemann of Wilmington; brothers Marty Giedemann of Franklinville, New Jersey, Richard Giedemann of Las Vegas, Nevada, Steve Giedemann of Tucson, Arizona, Duane Rogers of Pennsauken, Pennsylvania and Bion Rogers of Mount Royal, New Jersey; sister Dawn Norton of Marshville, Wisconsin; Sharon Askin, a dear friend and caregiver to Marilyn; also her fur babies, Cupcake and Bulldog.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Martin Rogers, Jr. and her father Martin Francis Giedemann, Jr.
Marilyn was also awaiting the birth of her first granddaughter, Stella.
A service to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Wrightsboro United Methodist Church, 3300 N Kerr Ave, Wilmington, NC 28405. Reverend David Hollowell and Reverend Lynn Wall will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Marilyn to Dosher Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center, 924 N. Howe St., Southport, NC 28462 or a charity of one’s choice.
