Lena Williams Medlin, 97, ‘loving mother and true angel on Earth’

Lena Williams Medlin, 97, of Northwest, went to her heavenly home on Monday, Dec. 28, 2015.

Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Earl “Red” Medlin; her son, Donald Medlin; one brother and five sisters.

She is survived by her five children, Jimmy Medlin (Diane), Shirley M. Tompkins, David E. Medlin (Patricia), Tylon D. Medlin (Mary) and Susan M. Gibbons (Chuck); three sisters, Betty Smith, Yvonne Hamilton, and Faye Johnson; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Lena was a lifetime member of All Souls Episcopal Church in Northwest. She was a loving mother and true angel on Earth. The family would like to extend thanks to everyone for all of the help given to Mrs. Medlin over the years. She will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016 at All Souls Episcopal Church. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the Medlin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the building fund, in care of All Souls Episcopal Church, Northwest, 5087 Blue Banks Loop Road, Leland, NC 28451.
