Betty Jean Horne Potter, 88, a lifelong resident of Wilmington, passed away Christmas Day 2015 at her residence.

Born August 4, 1927 in New Hanover County, she was the daughter of the late Jake Horne and Annie Sidbury Horne. She was also predeceased by her husband, Clides Caldwell “C.C.” Potter on April 7, 2013 and three brothers, Robert, Melvin and Jake Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Renee Hollifield (Jack) of Wilmington, Carol Peay (Kenny) of Rocky Point, Stephanie Potter Collo of Wilmington, and Robin Potter Cashwell of Burgaw; her grandchildren, Jackki, David, Leslie, Linzi, Lisa and Joshua; her great grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael, Chelcee, Camrey, Bailey, Alyson and Katie; and her great-great granddaughter, Brooklyn.

Betty was a long-serving member of Lake Forest Baptist Church. She was a trained hairdresser and an avid reader – enjoying novels, the StarNews and her daily crosswords. She loved her friends and church family.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Lake Forest Baptist Church, 1626 Lake Branch Dr, Wilmington, NC 28401. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
