City, county Christmas holiday closings, garbage pickup

New Hanover County

New Hanover County government offices will close Wednesday, Dec. 23 and will reopen Monday, Dec. 28. County libraries will be closed the rest of the week, starting Wednesday. The New Hanover County Landfill, 3002 U.S. Hwy 421 North, will be open until 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24 and Saturday, Dec. 26. The Landfill will fully close on Christmas Day, along with the Household Hazardous Waste facility.

Carolina Beach Town Hall and Kure Beach Town Hall will close Wednesday, Dec. 23 and reopen Monday, Dec. 28. Wrightsville Beach Town Hall will be closed Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25.

Wilmington

City of Wilmington offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, Dec. 24-25, for the Christmas holiday. City trash pickup will run on a regular schedule Thursday but will not be picked up Friday. City trash customers who normally have their trash and yard waste picked up Fridays are asked to have all items curbside by 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23.

City customers will not be charged for excess trash on their first scheduled trash pickup, during the week of Dec. 28. The following week, customers will need to purchase stickers for any extra trash that does not fit in their trash cart. A minimum of 12 stickers can be purchased by calling 910-341-7875.

City recycling customers who are on the BLUE schedule and normally have their recycling collected on Fridays should place their recycling containers at the curbside by 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Dec. 23.

Brunswick County

All Brunswick County government offices will close Thursday, Dec. 24 and will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 29. The county landfill will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24 through Saturday, Dec. 26. The landfill will reopen on Monday, Dec. 28. All curbside garbage and recycling collections on Friday, Dec. 25 will be rescheduled to Saturday, Dec. 26.
