Philip Anthony Alexander, 73, owned metal detector sales company

Philip Anthony Alexander, 73, of Shallotte passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015. He was born in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, on January 11, 1942, a son of Ralph and Martha Cianfarano Alexander.

He was a retired precision machine operator in a steel mill, and the owner of Common Cents Metal Detector Sales. He is fondly remembered by many friends for his patience and ability to teach the fine art of metal detecting.

Surviving are his wife, Diane Vereen Alexander; daughter, Wendy Douglas (Edwin) of Ocean Isle Beach; brother, Richard Alexander (Linda) of Shallotte Point; grandchildren, Lydia and Alex Douglas; niece, Susan Shapiro (Mark) of Kirkland, WA; nephew, Steven Alexander (Chris Kunkel) of Seattle, WA; and great nephew, Ben Shapiro.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2015, in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte, by The Rev. Jason Benton. The family will receive friends at 2 p.m., prior to the service.
