Wilmington police have charged three Leland teens in connection with a drive-by shooting on Colwell Avenue in Wilmington.
No one was injured when gunfire struck a home in the 1900 block of Colwell Avenue just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay. Witnesses reported that the suspect vehicle, a Ford Escape, drove away from the area.
Leland police and deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office stopped the vehicle in Leland, Lindsay said. Records with the Leland Police Department reported the suspect vehicle was found at about 9:20 p.m. in the 100 block Northgate Drive.
Wilmington police took over the investigation in Leland and arrested three suspects, Lindsay said.
Kyreame Lewis, 19, Jerry Lamont Andrews, 19, and Eddie Lee Harvey III, 19, all of Leland, have each been charged with felony conspiracy, according to court records. They were booked at the New Hanover County jail under $100,000 secured bonds.
Two shootings reported Tuesday afternoon
Wilmington police responded to a shooting that struck a home and a vehicle with one person inside during the late afternoon Tuesday. A ShotSpotter activation was reported in the 900 block of 11th Street at about 5:18 p.m., Lindsay said. Witnesses said two black males fired weapons from the roadway and then ran toward Dawson Street. No one was injured in the shooting.
Another report of shots fired happened in the 600 block of North 30th Street at 8:42 p.m. Tuesday. Several rounds were fired, Lindsay said. Two homes on the block were struck by gunfire but no one was injured.
The investigations are ongoing, Lindsay said. Police have not indicated whether the shootings are related.
Armed robbery reported at local hotel
Wilmington police are investigating an armed robbery at Red Roof Inn on Market Street.
The 41-year-old victim reported he was robbed outside the hotel at 5107 Market St. just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to Lindsay. Two suspects approached the victim as he was walking back to his room. The suspects took cash from his wallet and ran toward the area of Target.
One suspect wore a white sweatshirt and sweatpants, Lindsay said. The other suspect carried a handgun. The investigation is ongoing.
