Richard N. Odom, 50, of Wilmington, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2015 at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.

Born Oct. 22, 1965 in Laurel, Maryland, he was the son of Cecil Jay Odom of Bluffton, South Carolina and Graeme H. Odom of Wilmington.

A family man, Rick was a loving father and Pop-Pop. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, an avid fisherman, dedicated Baltimore Ravens fan, gardener, dog lover, helping hand and loyal friend.

Rick had a larger than life personality always sharing a good story and a big laugh. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Justin Moriarty; daughter, Heather Chrystina Sheppard; brother, Cecil Jay Odom, Jr.; sisters Cynthia Coyle and Sacha Epperson; and grandchildren Bradley, Ethan and Hunter Sheppard.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 514 S. College Road, Wilmington, NC 28403. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
