A beloved local band is getting set to celebrate its fourth year of bringing to cheer to some local children.
L Shape Lot’s Kraken Christmas Concert–a fundraiser for Toys for Tots–returns to the Brooklyn Arts Center, 516 N. Fourth St., on Saturday.
The charitable night out was created, founding band member Eric Miller said, to simply help out local kids in need of gifts under the tree.
Last year’s event, which was also a special send-off for former Lot drummer John Kovalski, collected 639 toys valued at about $10,000, according to Miller.
While he’d love to see this year’s annual charitable outshine top 2014, Miller said L Shape Lot is appreciative of any and all items received.
Along with live music from one of the Port City’s best-known bands–with new drummer Mykel Barbee–the Kraken Christmas concert will also feature performances from Wilmington favorites Rebekah Todd and the Odyssey.
It’s $10 at the door to attend, and drop-off boxes will be on hand for new, unwrapped gifts benefitting Toys for Tots. Toys are needed for infants through pre-teens.
Doors to the Kraken concert open at 6:30 p.m., with the show going on at 7:30.
