Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are searching a man suspected of robbing a Calabash store at gunpoint.

A white male with a gun robbed the Family Dollar Store, 10215 Beach Drive in Calabash, at noon Wednesday, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Emily Flax. The man left the store with cash.

A clerk and a patron in the store at the time of the robbery were not injured, Flax said.

The suspect, who has been identified as 21-year-old Zachariah Gerald Bay, is described as a white male who is 5 feet 11 inches tall. He wore a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans during the robbery. He has a tattoo or mole under his right eye.

Bay, of Temple Street in Conway, South Carolina, is thought to be in the North Carolina or South Carolina area. Detectives suspect he may be driving a black Ford Explorer sport truck.

“Bay is considered armed and dangerous,” Flax said.

Anyone with information about the suspect or his whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Tony Henson at 910-880-4878.
