Lucy M. Madden, 87, of Wilmington, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2015 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

Born Feb. 24, 1928 in Blue Diamond, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Hence Stidham and Mary Ellen Wooten Stidham. She was predeceased by her two sisters and two brothers.

On Feb. 9, 1946 she married Robert Madden, who died May 13, 1997. Mrs. Madden was active in St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was in the Peace Circle. She also volunteered her time at the food pantry. In her leisure, she enjoyed traveling and playing cards.

She is survived by her children, Sheila Leach, Diana Robinson, Terry Madden and Teresa Jamison, all of Wilmington, Robert Madden, Jr. of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Paula Madden of Winter Springs, Florida; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 612 S College Road, Wilmington, NC 28403. Interment will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at Highland Memory Gardens in Apopka, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lucy’s name to St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church or Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
