Albert “Ray” King Jr., 70, of Wilmington, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 4 after a sudden illness.
Born on April 24, 1945 in Wilmington to proud father Albert Ray King, Sr. and adoring mother Pearl Lee King, Ray had a childhood filled with love and laughter, fun and adventure, all shared with his four wonderful sisters.
Ray spent his life honing his skill as an electrician, a trade taught to him by his father and one he passed down to his sons. He was a hard working man with a strong work ethic, later becoming an electrical contractor, master troubleshooter and fixer of all things broken.
A seventh grade romance grew into a lifetime of love with Deloris Parsons King, his wife of 53 years. Together they had three children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy.
Ray found laughter in everyday life. He had a fantastic sense of humor and a quick wit, and enjoyed exchanging witty banter with everyone he met. He was a wonderful, kind man who taught his family to love God, honor your word, appreciate your blessings and help your neighbors.
Ray loved riding his tractor, feeding the animals on his land, spending time with his family and walking around the pond with his “girls,” dogs Betty Bo and Sheba. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Ray King, Sr. and Pearl Lee King, along with many other cherished family members.
Ray is survived by his wife, Deloris Parsons King; two sons, Albert Ray King, III (Teri) and John Michael King; one daughter, Gina King Graham (Brad); grandchildren, Albert Ray King, IV, Kevin King, Michael King, Jr., Travis King, Matthew King, Sarah King, Bradley Graham, Jr. and Brandon Graham; great-grandchildren, Sydney King and Albert Ray “Quinn” King V; sisters, Delores King Croom ( Louis), Pasty King McDonald, Cheryle King Croom (David) and Pamela King Sanders (Billy); brother-in-law, Charlie Ward (Debbie); sisters-in-law, Suzette Vinyard (Rick), Missy Hudson (Rick), Carolyn Vera (Frank) and Latrisha Collins (Clint); as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and friends. Ray will be dearly missed by all those he leaves behind.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Wrightsboro Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after the service.
Please leave online condolences for the family at Wilmington Funeral and Cremation.
