Nathan Louis Teachey, 75, of Burgaw passed from his earthly life to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at his home.

He was born September 24, 1940 in Pender County, the son of the late Herman Carlton and Minnie Horrell Teachey. Also remembered are his beloved wife, Carolyn Rivenbark Teachey; sister, Pansy Thompson and brothers, Raymond, Allen and Thomas Teachey.

Nathan is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Lee Norris; grandsons, Chase Norris and Tyler Norris; sisters, Rae Wood (Marion), Faye English and Margaret Henderson; brothers, Jerry Teachey (Sharon) and Robert Teachey (Peggy); many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Nathan retired in 2002 from G. E. Company, Nuclear Division in Castle Hayne. He was a faithful member of Friendly Community Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. Giving of his time and talents, Nathan served on the board of directors for Matthew 25 Center.

Nathan was a loving and generous husband, daddy, granddaddy, brother, uncle and friend. Most enjoyed by Nathan was fishing, gardening and sharing his watermelons, collards and vegetables. His greatest passion was attending all sporting events in which his grandsons, Chase and Tyler, participated. He was known for his thoughtfulness, humility, his great devotion to family and faithful service to his Lord and church. Nathan’s departure has left an empty place at our family table and especially in our hearts.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Friendly Community Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Brittingham and Pastor Timothy Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
