Coming off an emphatic 52-15 win over Durham-Hillside on Friday night to advance to the 4A East Regional, the New Hanover Wildcats hit the practice field this week heading into the program’s first final four matchup since 2009.
Tre Age scored four touchdowns in the result as New Hanover rushed for over 280 yards thanks to a good push at the line of scrimmage. Wiz Vaughn and Javeon Hall were also key contributors in the running game, while Burke Estes hit five different receivers through the air.
The Wildcats defense also held Hillside to just a pair of first downs in the game, the first of which came at the midway point of the third quarter. New Hanover forced three turnovers on the defensive side of the ball. Ronnie Beatty and Freddie Taylor both had interceptions.
Leading into Friday’s contest against J.H. Rose, New Hanover Coach Earl Smith and a group of players from the team will join Joe Catenacci for this week’s edition of Sports Round Table. They’ll recap the action from the third round of the state playoffs, watch game highlights and preview the 4A regional matchup against the Rampants.
