Government offices closed for Thanksgiving holiday

ThanksgivingMany area government offices and facilities will be closed over the Thanksgiving holiday. The following is a rundown of all the offices closed, including a schedule of government services.

Wilmington

City of Wilmington government offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27. City offices will reopen on Monday, Nov. 30. Trash services will not run on Thursday, but regular trash pickup will run on schedule Friday.

City trash customers who normally have trash and yard waste picked up on Thursday are asked to have all items by the curbside on Wednesday. City recycling customers who are on the BLUE schedule and normally have recycling collected on Thursday should place their recycling containers curbside on Wednesday.

New Hanover County

New Hanover County government offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27. County offices will reopen and resume a normal schedule on Monday, Nov. 30.

All New Hanover County branch libraries will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27. For more information about library locations and hours, visit nhclibrary.org. Normal hours will resume Saturday, Nov. 28.

The New Hanover County Landfill will be closed on Thursday. The landfill will operate on normal hours (6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) on Friday. Hours of operation will be extended on Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The county’s household hazardous waste and electronics facility will be closed on Thursday, but will resume normal hours of operation Friday and Saturday.

Airlie Gardens, 300 Airlie Road, Wilmington, will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26. The Gardens will reopen at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27. For more information about Airlie Gardens, visit airliegardens.org or call (910) 798-7700.

Brunswick County

All Brunswick County government offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27. Offices will reopen and resume normal hours on Monday, Nov. 30.

The county landfill will be closed Thursday. All Thursday curbside garbage and recycling collections will be rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28. The convenient centers will operate on a normal schedule.
