obit flagDavid Leon Gause, 86, of Shallotte, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015.

Born in Bladen County on Nov. 1, 1929, he was a son of the late D.R. and Thelma King Gause. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Gause.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired N.C. Wildlife Officer. He was a former member of the Shallotte Rescue Squad, Shallotte Jaycees, Brunswick County Hospital Authority and the Shallotte Board of Aldermen.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Porter Gause; sons, Lynn Gause and Rodney Gause and his wife Dina, all of Shallotte; sister, Frances Davis of Hope Mills; grandchildren, Rodney Dean Gause and fiancé Susan Del’Guerico and April Marie Cherry and her husband Joe; and great grandchildren, Andi Marie Cherry, Paige Gethers and Peyton Gethers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27, 2015 from Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
