Crime notebook: Deputies search for suspect in gas station robbery

Detectives with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the robbery of a gas station off Carolina Beach Road.

The incident was reported at the Kangaroo gas station at 6759 Carolina Beach Road just after 3 a.m. Tuesday, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer.

A man entered the gas station convenience store, walked up to an employee and demanded money. The suspect ran out of the store with cash.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot tall man of an unknown race, who wore black pants, a dark green coat and a knit cap.
