Crime notebook: No injuries but an arrest in drive-by shooting; police searching for armed robbery suspects

Wilmington police are searching for a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery at a Han-Dee Hugo store.

A white man entered the store at 1746 Carolina Beach Road and demanded money just after 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.

Lindsay said the suspect reportedly placed his hands on the counter and asked the cashier several times “Give me all your money, please.” The cashier gave the suspect an unknown amount of cash before he ran from the store.

The suspect is described to be between the ages of 55 and 65 with a blonde beard. He wore a blue motorcycle helmet, a cream colored shirt with grey stripes and blue jeans.

Suspect wanted in armed robbery at CVS store

Police say narcotics were taken in an armed robbery at a CVS store in Wilmington

A white male suspect entered the store at 2302 S. 17th St. just after midnight Wednesday and robbed the clerk at knife point, Lindsay said. The suspect took narcotics and ran out of the store headed west.

The suspect wore a black cloth over his face, a white T-shirt and black pants.

No one injured in Monday drive-by shooting

A woman and a man suffered no injury in a drive-by shooting on Rankin Street.

A woman was in her car with a male passenger when a vehicle pulled up next to them in the area of Rankin and Anderson streets, and fired a single shot into the vehicle at about 8:15 p.m. Monday, Lindsay said. The bullet hit the vehicle between the front and rear windows.

Responding officers met with the victim in the 500 block of North 11th Street, Lindsay said. Police found the suspect, 23-year-old Arielle Tylisha Faulk, of Wilmington, and charged her with discharging a firearm into a vehicle. Jail records for Faulk were not available.

Suspect charged in home burglary with women, children inside

Wilmington police arrested a man suspected of breaking into a home Tuesday night with a woman and her three children inside.

A woman reported that she was walking to her home in the 700 block of Wooster Street when she noticed a man following her at about 8:30 p.m., according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay. The woman ran into her home and locked herself inside, along with her three small children.

The suspect reportedly opened the screen door to the home and attempted to kick in the door. Arriving officers found the man still at the door, Lindsay said.

Police arrested 29-year-old Quemar Deshawn Wooten, of Wilmington, at the home, Lindsay said. Officers suspect he was under the influence of illegal drugs at the time of his arrest. Crack cocaine, synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia were reportedly found in his possession.

Wooten has been charged with first-degree burglary, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute a schedule II controlled substance, simple possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked at the New Hanover County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Detectives with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a woman wanted in connection with making fraudulent transactions at a Walgreens.

The incident was reported at the Walgreens at 5900 Carolina Beach Road at 1 p.m. Sept. 24, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer. The woman purchased several bottles of perfume from the store.

The same female suspect is wanted for attempting to purchase gift cards at a Rite Aid at 4502 Shipyard Blvd later that day, Brewer said. The purchase of the cards were declined.

The suspect is described as a woman who is between the ages of 25 and 30. She wore a black and white mini skirt and high heels.
