Richard F. Auger, of Wilmington and Beech Mountain, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Hospital. He was 80.
Born June 23, 1935, in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Emil J. Auger and Flora (Dandeneau) Auger. Also remembered are his son, Dean M. Auger and a brother, Robert “Bobby” Auger, who preceded Richard in death.
Richard retired from the Bostitch division of Stanley Works in East Greenwich, Rhode Island in 1999 after 35 years. He was then able to enjoy his love the beach, golf and skiing in the North Carolina mountains.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Karen (Frye) Auger; son, Richard F. Auger Jr. and wife Ann, of Wilkesboro; son, Randie R. Auger and wife Debra, of Coventry, Rhode Island; brother, Ronald Auger and wife Sharon, of Lady Lake, Florida; brother, Raymond Auger and wife Jane, of Howie in the Hills, Florida; sister, Barbara Papitto and husband Ralph, of Hope, Rhode Island; grandchildren, Jessi (Auger) Bricker, Kayla Auger, Joanne (Auger) Kiely, Richard Auger III and Andrew Auger; and great-grandchildren, Brianna Kiely, Avaline Auger, Mia Auger, Ian Bricker and Isaac Bricker.
A private viewing for the family will be held at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at the Andrews Market Street Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
