The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf SAC Football Players of the Week for games the 10th week of the season.  Catawba quarterback and Laney High product Mike Sheehan was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week, while Carson-Newman’s Jason Williams was named the Defensive Player of the Week.  Mars Hill’s Keshaun Taylor picked up Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Sheehan, a junior from Wilmington, N.C., threw for 234 yards and pair of scores, while rushing for another touchdown in the Catawba Indians’ 24-6 win over Tusculum on Nov. 7.  He completed 14-of-24 passes for an average of 9.8 yards per pass.  Sheehan accounted for all three scores in the win with a two-yard score early in the second quarter and touchdown strikes of 25 and 35 yards to help build a 21-3 lead in the third quarter.

The win secured at least a share of the 2015 SAC Championship and a win at home against Lenoir-Rhyne on Nov. 14 would give the Catawba Indians the outright championship.  The award is his first Offensive Player of the Week nod this season.
