Grover Laurie Worthington Jr. died Nov. 8,2015, at his residence at Kure Beach after a brief illness. He was 66.
Born on Nov. 25, 1948, in Kinston, he was a son of the late Grover L. Worthington Sr. and Norma Grace Jarman.
Mr. Worthington graduated from Granger High School in Kinston. For 25 years he was employed as service manager for James River Equipment Company. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing and spending time with his family. Many special friends at Kure Beach became his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Kym West, of Jacksonville; son, Tray Worthington and his wife Tammy, of Whiteville; his beloved companion, Nancy, of Kure Beach; brothers, Billy Worthington and wife Darlene, of Kinston and Tommy Worthington and wife Anne, of Florence, South Carolina; grandchildren, Tyler Worthington, Garrett Worthington and Andrew West; one niece; two nephews; and a special friend, “NETMAN” Gene, of Kure Beach.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at Wilmington Funeral and Cremation with the Rev. Dwight Martinez officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
