Stanley Gerald “Jerry” Wardrip, of Wilmington, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was 75.

He was born on Dec. 7, 1939, in Brandenburg, Kentucky, the son of the late Hayward and Willa Bea Givens Wardrip.

Jerry retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a master sergeant. He was veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and was active at Wrightsboro United Methodist Church. Jerry was a member of Quails Unlimited, Coastal Plain Chapter, and a volunteer with Canines for Services. He was very proud to be an Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonial recipient.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Burks Wardrip; daughter, Sandra Camp and husband Michael, of Roanoke Rapids; son, Stanley G. Wardrip Jr. and wife Marla of Wilmington; brother, George Wardrip, of Battletown, Kentucky; a sister, Joan Scaggs, of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Ashley Camp, of Roanoke Rapids and Andrew Wardrip, of Wilmington; and one great-grandchild, Seth Camp.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Wrightsboro United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park at 2 p.m.
