A Kure Beach commissioner is resigning from town council effective Monday.

Steve Pagley, who was elected in 2013, sent a notice to the town Wednesday saying he was relocating for work.

“I regret to inform Council that due to my company transferring me to Greenville, NC, I must resign my position on Council effective Nov. 9, 2015,” the letter reads. “It has been a pleasure and honor serving the Town of Kure Beach.”

Commissioners are elected to four-year terms. The town must appoint someone to serve the final two years of Pagley’s term. Council will discuss filling the vacancy at their next meeting on Nov. 17.
