Teresa Koska, of Wilmington, died peacefully on Oct. 30, 2015, following her eight-year battle with cancer. She was 47.
Born Jan. 18, 1968, in Kansas City, Kansas, she was the daughter of Patricia Ann Lindsey and husband, Frank and Michael Francis Koska Jr. and wife Kathy.
Teresa graduated from UNC-Wilmington with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. As owner of Premiere Events, Teresa has used her talents creating Wilmington’s first and finest full scale event design company. Her unique ideas and artistic touches set Teresa apart by providing her clients with memorable occasions specifically designed for them. She was able to transform their special day through her positivity and passion, often gaining lifelong friends as her work touched many lives.
Known as “T.K.,” she played women’s beach volleyball doubles and played professional beach volleyball in California. Teresa also enjoyed playing locally at Captain Bill’s and Dig and Dive.
She was passionate about multiple charities and she valued her friendships and relationships more than anything. Teresa received great pleasure in decorating and designing her home and was published in Better Homes and Gardens Magazine showcasing her skills.
Teresa wanted to thank God for carrying her through her journey. She also wished to thank her family, friends and neighbors for being so supportive over the last two years, with a special thank-you to Dr. Kelly Marcom at Duke – may he find a cure.
In addition to her mother and father, she is survived by her son, Matthew Grant Gausman; sisters, Stella Carter, Atlanta Carrera (Reynold) and Caroline Reda (Ralph); brother, Michael F. Koska III (Angela); and many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market St., Wilmington, NC 28401. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, at Oleander Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Teresa’s name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 or Special Olympics North Carolina, 2200 Gateway Centre Blvd., Suite 1, Morrisville, NC 27560.
