The New Hanover Regional Medical Center is one of 773 hospitals out of over 2500 to receive an “A” grade in the fall 2015 edition of the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Score.
The score, which measures how well a medical facility protects patients from injuries, accidents, infections, errors and other preventable harm, is administered by The Leapfrog Group, an independent industry watchdog, and compiled by experts on patient safety. The Hospital Safety Score gives grades of A through F based on 28 measures of hospital safety data available to the public.
“We are very proud of our safety record,” NHRMC President and CEO Jack Barto said in a news release. “Our physicians and staff maintain a diligent focus on keeping our patients safe, while providing the high-quality, compassionate care our patients expect and deserve.”
