The win allowed the Eagles to improve to 7-3-3 on the season while earning their third win in the last four games. UNCW, which was playing its final home game of the season, dropped to 8-6-3 with its second straight loss.

Wilks gave FGCU a 1-0 lead at the 10:11 mark when he took a long pass from sophomore midfielder Miguel Jaime and blasted a shot past senior goalkeeper Sam Williams.

The Seahawks outshot Florida Gulf Coast by a 9-5 margin, but senior goalkeeper Nathan Ingham made three saves, including two in the second half, to preserve the victory for the Eagles.

Saturday’s contest was the first matchup for the two programs.

The Seahawks will finish their regular season this Tuesday with a 7 p.m. matchup against Charlotte at Transamerica Field in Charlotte.

UNCW will move on to the CAA tournament quarterfinals Saturday, Nov. 7 at Delaware, with the time to be announced.
