Helen Neal Johnson, of Shallotte and formerly of Belle, West Virginia, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at the age of 93.
Born in Fayette County, West Virginia on March 4, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Grover Lee and Genevieve Bryson Neal. After graduating high school, she began her studies to become a nurse. Mrs. Johnson was most recently a member of First Baptist Church of Shallotte, where she was a member of the Young at Heart Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. G. A. Daniel Sr.; second husband, John C. Johnson Sr.; brothers, John C. Neal, Bryson Neal and Sandige Neal; and a sister, Mary Hicks.
Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Barr (Charles), of Shallotte and Joyce White (Larry), of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; sons, John Johnson Jr. (Linda), of Pickerington, Ohio and the Rev. Thomas Johnson, (Susan), of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama; a stepson, Gilbert Daniel Jr., (Ruby), of Gulfport, Mississippi; a sister, Lillian Wayne, of Virginia; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015, at the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel. Entombment will follow at Brunswick Memorial Gardens Community Mausoleum.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 4486 Main St., Shallotte, NC 28470.
