Charles Ashley Evans, of Supply, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at his home. He was 86.

Mr. Evans was born in Wayne County on Jan. 25, 1929, and was the son of the late James W. and Katie Edwards Evans.

He graduated from Mt. Olive High School and attended Kings College. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served as a medic in WWII. Mr. Evans was an Eagle Scout, a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. He retired from CP&L after 35 years of employment. Mr. Evans was a very creative artisan famous for creating Tiffany-style stained glass lamps and frames. He was very athletic and enjoyed bike riding and ran several marathons.

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean Merritt Evans; daughters, Gail Evans Corn and husband Gary, of Hendersonville, Joan Elaine Grady, of Supply and Caroline Evans Beaudry and husband Charles, of Graham; grandchildren, Kenneth Charles Corn, Charles Liam Beaudry and Elijah Stewart Beaudry; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.
