Kayleigh Mewherter, of Oak Island, died Oct. 14, 2015, after a lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis. She was 22.

She was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on Sept. 20, 1993, the daughter of Michael and Sabine Mewherter. She attended Jack Britt High School in Fayetteville.

In addition to her parents in Oak Island, she is survived by her brothers, Sean and Tommy Mewherter, both of Oak Island; paternal grandparents, Harry and Mary Mewherter, of Clear Lake, South Dakota; and maternal grandparents, Gerhard Huebner and Lieselotte Zimmerman, both of Germany.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Chantel Mewherter.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at the chapel of Ocean View United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Fred Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
