Some big boats are headed to Wrightsville Beach this weekend for the Children’s Museum’s largest fundraiser of the year.

YachtVenture hits MarineMax, 130 Short St., on Saturday. In its fifth year, the annual event will bring in some of the finest yachts in the area, all more than 45 feet in length, for guests to stroll past and take a walk on.

There will also be a silent auction of items to match the prestige of the power crafts, wine and food courtesy of Sawmill Catering and a raffle for an exclusive vacation. Local favorite L Shape Lot will perform.

Proceeds from YachtVenture will support the Children’s Museum’s ongoing effort to reimagine all of its exhibits in time for 2016. Founded in 1997, the downtown educational center offers hands-on activities to stimulate children’s imagination, curiosity and love of learning in a variety of areas–art, science and culture among them.

The museum recently got a nod from the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Society for YachtVenture, making the society’s honor roll for its creative contributions to the community. YachtVenture was one of just 10 programs in the state that made the list.

The event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $100 in advance and $125 at the door. Raffle tickets are $100 each. Click here for more information.
