Mark Alexander Thomas, of Wilmington, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, on his 62nd birthday, following a two-year battle with Leukemia.

Mark was born in Corning, New York to Robert D. Thomas and Lucille A. Thomas. He grew up in Corning, Bradford, Pennsylvania and in Wilmington, where he graduated from Hoggard High School in 1971. He attended UNC and UNC-Wilmington.

He worked for New Hanover Department of Social Services until 1982, when he was hired by Piedmont Airlines as a flight attendant. Mark most recently worked with US Airways until his retirement.

Mark is survived by his mother, Lucille Thomas; sisters, Bonnie McQuillen, of Charlotte, Danna Lowery and husband, of Atlanta and Terry Snyder and husband, of Raleigh; three nieces; and one nephew.

To honor Mark’s request, no memorial service is planned.
