The Kure Beach Community Center is hosting a Hospice 101 program presented by the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center. The program will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 and is free to the public.
Attendees will learn the basics of hospice care, how it’s paid for, how referrals are made, how medication is covered, and more. The presenters will also clarify any misconceptions or myths about hospice care and give information on how to volunteer to help local patients in need of it.
There will also be a discussion on how people can make sure their healthcare wishes are honored by putting together documents such as living wills or healthcare powers of attorney. A question and answer session will be held at the end of the program.
