Get ready to glam it up in the garden, F. Scott Fitzgerald-style.
As a follow-up to last year’s fourth annual Great Gatsby Gala, local style guru Jess James, in collaboration with Kusek Financial Group, is hosting the first Gatsby Lawn Party from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 (rain date is Sunday, Oct. 18).
The event will be held on the sprawling lawn of Paula Corbett’s home, 6604 Spring Garden Drive, off scenic Airlie Road overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway.
Fashionistas and Dapper Dans can don their finest garden party garb, a la the roaring twenties, grab a blanket and slap on a boater.
Inspired by New York City’s Jazz Age Lawn Party and offering a nod to Wilmington’s favorite Garden Party during Azalea Fest, the event will feature bring-your-own or a prepared picnic-for-two by Little Pond Caterers. The British Taxi will provide valet service.
Lisa Brown of Bella Rose Photography will be on hand to capture the festivities, and Harry Taylor will taking Paper Moon vintage tintype portraits.
Bring your dancing shoes, because there will be live big band music and Jazz Age dancers. You can also have your tarot cards read and do a little 1920s-inspired shopping with A Second Time Around, Elizabeth’s, En Vie Interiors and Style Girl Vintage.
The afternoon is rounded out with a vintage fashion parade and prizes for “Best Dressed” and “Best Picnic.”
Tickets are $40 online. Tickets for the event and catered picnic are $99 and include a picnic basket, lunch for two from Little Pond and a bottle of wine. Two glasses, silverware and linen napkins will be provided. Catered picnics are pre-sale only and the deadline is Friday, Oct. 16.
