Kure Beach is saying farewell to another summer season with a New Orleans-style Jazz Funeral by the town’s main beach strand.

This year’s event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9. The funeral procession, led by Dixieland All Stars band, will start at 7 p.m. at L Avenue and make its way to the pavilion at Ocean Front Park. A concert at the park will follow.

T’Geaux Boys food truck will be on hand selling traditional po’boy sandwiches. The town, which will be selling packs of beads and masks for $5, is encouraging attendees to don their best dresses, hats and parasols to escort the casket along the boardwalk and give summer a proper send off.
