Walter Charles Skawinski, of Calabash, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at Autumn Care of Shallotte. He was 80.

He was born on March 6, 1935, the son of the late Walter Charles Skawinski and Mary Skawinski.

Mr. Skawinski was a member of St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church in Shallotte. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean War, and a member of the American Legion. He was employed by Fiduciary Trust Company for many years as a computer programmer. He was the former Little League Baseball president in Edison, New Jersey. Walter enjoyed bowling and golfing.

Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Eileen Walsh Skawinski, of the home; sons, Mark Skawinski and wife, Maria, of San Diego, Michael Skawinski and wife, Nancy, of Mint Hill and Craig Skawinski and wife, Carolyn, of Roxbury, New Jersey; sister-in Law, Kathleen Bosco, of Nutley, New Jersey; brother, Robert Skawinski and wife, Connie, of Washington’s Crossing, Pennsylvania; sister, Joan Delaporte and husband, Al, of Florida; and grandchildren, Joe, Niko, Melissa, Kerry, Taylor, Nikki and Anthony.

A Mass of the resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church. Following the Mass a celebration of life luncheon will be held at Derbster’s in Calabash.
