William Allen Phillips, 59, announcer for drag races in Jacksonville, Fayetteville and Rockingham

William Allen Phillips, died Sept. 23, 2015, at his home in Boiling Spring Lakes. He was 59.

Allen is survived by his wife of 17 years, Fran Phillips; mother, Teena Phillips; and siblings, Tom Phillips, Jerrie Ann Barnes and Jamie Cochran, of Pensacola, Florida.

Allen proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, working a C-130 Gunship in Vietnam. Allen’s friends and family knew his passion for drag racing and he would spend most weekends announcing races in Jacksonville, Fayetteville and Rockingham.

He was a loving step-grandfather to Alice and Cameron, both of Port Orchard, Washington. He was loved by his wife and will be missed by his extended family and many racing friends.

Allen’s wishes were there be no service and that Fran would choose Brunswick Literacy Council for all donations.
