Pleasure Island is hosting its 6th Annual Island Day this Sunday, Sept. 27 at Ocean Front Park in Kure Beach.
The event, which runs from 1 to 5 p.m., is a collaborative effort between the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce and official town departments, local businesses and volunteers from both Carolina Beach and Kure Beach.
Guests are invited to bring blankets, chairs and coolers and be ready to enjoy picnicking, live music and other activities and games. The Carolina Beach and Kure Beach fire departments will be cooking hot dogs and offering chips and non-alcoholic beverages. Family-friendly activities include laser tag on the beach, pony rides from 2 to 4 p.m., a bounce house, disc golf, corn hole and a photo booth, among others.
There will also be several bands playing live music. The David Dixon and Rebekah Todd Duo, Roots United and JackJack180 will all be taking the stage, along with performers from Pleasure Island Dance Company. A wing-eating contest sponsored by Lazy Pirate is also scheduled to take place shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Parking for the event will be available along 6th Avenue, I Street and at Joe Eakes Park. Trolleys will shuttle guests between the parking areas and Ocean Front Park free of charge.
