Week six of the high school football season will have to wait for a handful of teams across the area as soaking rains along the coast have postponed games until Monday, September 28.
The Mideastern Conference schedule opens for six of the seven teams, setting up a short week for most of the local programs, with games set for Friday, October 2, including a key matchup between New Hanover and Hoggard.
The Wildcats will still travel to Purnett Swett for their final non-conference game as New Hanover joins Topsail, Laney, Ashley and West Brunswick in what will be a quick turnaround following Monday’s contests.
Hoggard is still scheduled to kick off against South Brunswick tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Scott Braswell Stadium along Shipyard Boulevard in Wilmington.
