Kirby Smith and Hannah Dunlop led Hoggard with 10 and seven kills, respectively. Carol Davidson and Hannah Dunlop each had three, while Logan Smith led the assault with 24 assists in the 3-0 match. Hoggard moves to 8-1 overall and 7-0 in conference. South Brunswick fell to 2-5 in league play.

Topsail 3    Laney 2

(23-25, 25-17, 17-25, 25-18, 18-16)

 Topsail outlasted Laney 3-2 on Thursday afternoon to give the Pirates a key result in the Mideastern Conference. Payton Shoenleber had an all-around effort with eight kills, 25 assists and 10 digs. Madi Ford added 11 kills and Marlee Marrotta finished with 28 digs.

The Screaming Eagles rallied from two sets down to pick up its first win inside conference as Ashley defeated West Brunswick 3-2 on Thursday. The Trojans fell to 3-4 in league play, while Ashley moved to 1-6 in conference.

North Brunswick 3    Northside 1

(25-17, 17-25, 25-15, 26-24)

Valeria Renna had nine kills, while Claire Longshore set the attack with 16 assists as North Brunswick grabbed a 3-1 win over Northside.



Laney 3   Topsail 0

Laney got back in the win column following a 3-0 result over Topsail on Thursday. Tristan Nelson, David Dailey and Stephen Hagewood each scored goals for the Bucs, while Jackson Young, Sam Shifflett and Jack Brarens finished with an assist. Owen Platt and Hunter Garris each split time to preserve the clean sheet as the Bucs moved to 2-2 in conference.

Drew Walters scored three goals to extend Ashley’s win streak to 11 straight as the Screaming Eagles posted a 6-0 shutout on Thursday. Duenis Aviola, Dominic Toone and Espin Jennings-Gilbert also lit the lamp for Ashley.

The Screaming Eagles moved to 11-0 overall and remain the team to beat atop the division standings a 4-0 in conference.

Cape Fear Academy 3   Parrott Academy 2

Barton Williams scored two goals and Zach Tomosunas found the back of the net for Cape Fear Academy as the Hurricanes outlasted Parrott Academy 3-2 on Thursday.

Williams put Cape Fear Academy on the board in the 14th minute and Tomosunas scored on a penalty kick to give the Hurricanes a two-goal advantage early into the second half. Ale Winning had six saves for Cape Fear Academy, who improved to 4-1 in conference and 10-4-2 overall.

Hoggard 6    South Brunswick 1

Cesar Cruz tallied twice and Luke Benecci scored a pair of goals as Hoggard cruised to a 5-1 result over South Brunswick.

Jared Robertson put the Vikings on the board in the 10th minute and Cruz made it a three-goal advantage midway through the first half. Cruz and Austin Redenbaugh finished with three assists.

Hoggard moved to 3-0 in conference and 6-3-3 overall.



Laney and Topsail ceased play after 90 minutes due to rain. Anna Porcelli, Kendall Hanks and Jessica Tucker grabbed wins for the Bucs in singles before play was suspended. Both teams hope to resume play on Monday.
