Detectives with the Wilmington Police Department are investigating an armed robbery at Target.

A man robbed a Target employee at gunpoint at the store located at 4711 New Centre Drive at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday, according to police department spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.

The suspect reportedly entered the back of the store with a handgun, took the employee’s cell phone and wallet, and ran out of the store toward Ringo Street, Lindsay said.

The suspect is described as a black man who is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He wore a grey hooded sweatshirt with a zipper, dark pants and a bandanna around his neck.
