Sylvia Hill Dittmer, of Wilmington, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at the age of 87.
Sylvia was born in Wilmington on Nov. 12, 1927, daughter of the late Elizabeth Rhodes Hill and Eugene Vernon Hill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald F. Dittmer, two brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her children, Linda Marett (Ray), Cecilia Dittmer (Ted Floyd), Gerald Dittmer Jr. (Sherry) and Joseph Dittmer (Angie); grandchildren, Ray Marett (Wendy), Eric Tomosunas (Audrey), Shelly McBride (Casey) and Jamie Tomosunas; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Sydney and Carly Marett, Emil, Zachary and Rio Tomosunas and Jolee and Aiden McBride; and great-great-granddaughter, Sophia Lilley.
Sylvia was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who will be greatly missed. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Hampstead. For many years she was affiliated with the 4 C’s Food Pantry in Hampstead, where she also served as a board member.
A funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary, 412 Ann St., Wilmington. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to 4 C’s Food Pantry in Hampstead.
