Kathryn Lenore Sicuranza, 68, loyal and compassionate, opened her home to others

Kathryn Lenore Sicuranza, a longtime resident of Calabash, died peacefully Sept. 20, 2015, in Charleston, South Carolina. She was 68.

Kathryn was born on July 12, 1947, in Bronx, New York, the daughter of Mary Tantillo Genovese and the late Anthony Genovese.

Generous, loyal and compassionate, Kathryn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid cook and will be well remembered for opening her home and table to family and friends.

Kathryn is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Joseph Sicuranza; sons, Michael (wife Erin) and Christopher Sicuranza (wife Daniela); grandchildren, Lily, Ellen, Gabriela, Adam and Lucia; sisters, Claudia Sacino and Christine Genovese; and brother, Joseph Genovese.

Kathy was a member of St. Brendan’s Roman Catholic Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at St. Brendan’s Roman Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the American Liver Foundation, 39 Broadway, Suite 2700, New York, NY 10006.
