Agnes McCann Chasten Savage, 96, traveled all over the world with her husband

Agnes McCann Chasten Savage of Wilmington, died peacefully at her home the morning of Sept. 20, 2015, at the age of 96.

Agnes was born on May 29, 1919, and was a proud native of Wilmington. She studied music at Greensboro College before marrying her husband of 77 years, Job K. Savage. Agnes was preceded in death by Job, but only by several weeks. She also was preceded in death by her parents, James R. Chasten Jr. and Roxie L. Chasten and two siblings.

She is survived by 12 nieces and nephews.

Agnes and Job began their married life in Tarboro and lived and traveled all over the world. They moved back to Agnes’ hometown of Wilmington several years ago and during that time enjoyed the care of their friend, Cee McIntyre.

A service will be held for Agnes at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at the Market Street Chapel of Andrews Mortuary, followed by a graveside service at Oakdale Cemetery.
