Construction may slow down commuters making their way out of Wilmington and over the Memorial Bridge before morning and evening rush hours this week, as construction crews begin work on the westbound lane of Wooster Street between Sixth and Fourth streets.

According to Mike McGill, chief communications officer for the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority, construction crews will be closing the far left westbound lane of Wooster no earlier than 9 a.m., and anticipate full traffic flow restoration before the evening rush.

McGill stated in a press release construction and intermittent closures is due to the repair of a two-inch water pipe feeding water and sewer lines of the residents in the 500 block of Wooster Street. Construction is expected to end on Friday evening.
