Lower Cape Fear Hospice will soon begin offering free grief counseling for people coping with the loss of a spouse or partner.

The six-week program will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Mondays, Oct. 26-Dec. 7, at the Dr. Robert M. Fales Hospice Pavilion conference room, 1406 Physicians Drive. There will be no meeting on Nov. 23.

Discussions include the phases of grief and the grieving process, along with other areas of concern.

“Often being around others who have been through a similar experience enables participants to talk about what they are experiencing,” according to a Hospice spokeswoman. “Grief groups help emphasize that participants are not grieving alone and others understand and can support them on their grief journey.”

Although the program is free, registration is required and closes once the program begins. For more information, call (910) 796-7991. When leaving a message, please leave your name, phone number and indicate the specific program you wish to attend. Donations are appreciated.

Additional groups will form throughout the year. Click here for more information.
